Project Description: Complete demolition and redesign of an historic pre-war duplex apartment.
Architectural Initiatives: A dramatic reconfiguration of the previously compartmentalized rooms allowed the interior spaces to be arranged in a more open, modern layout while restoring the elegance and integrity of the discovered historical interior decorative elements. The new spatial arrangement was informed through an understanding of the required infrastructural integration, and implemented within the spatially defining thicknesses developed within the cabinetry and interior partitions throughout the apartment. A thoughtful reinterpretation of the interior provides a light filled experience within the space and the use of unique contemporary finish materials allows for a fresh take on the historic interior elements.
